Filtered

Conference System
Spring 2020
Motivated to expose how social media algorithms are separating our society, Filtered Conference is focused on educating and equipping social media users to be able to identify and take action against filter bubbles. Filtered Conference aims to bring together two groups of people that greatly affect each other, but rarely interact: tech workers and young adults.
Collaborated with Taylor Stinchfield and Annabel Lee

The circles used in Filtered’s identity symbolize the filter bubbles that social media users are constrained to. The illusion of connection that social media algorithms create is represented through the motif of a blur effect. When the blur (filter) is removed, it becomes clear that our filter bubbles may not be as connected to others as we think.
